ALEXANDER KISELEV 1855-1918

Alexander Kiselev was born in Sergiev Posad, the Moscow province (now the Moscow region). He studied at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture (late 1870–1882) and the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts (1882–1885).

He was a pensioner in Italy (1886–1890) and an academician (1890) of the Academy of Arts. Kiselev was a painter and a decorative artist. He was a participant of the Abramtsevo Colony since 1890. In Abramtsevo he painted portraits, landscapes and interiors, worked at the pottery, took part in the amateur performances.

Nowadays the Abramtsevo Museum keeps pictures and decorative and applied arts articles made by Alexander Kiselev.
